Chinese investment in overseas real estate rose to a record $33bn in 2016

Chinese investment in overseas real estate rose by 53% to a record $33bn in 2016, figures from JLL show.

The US attracted investment totalling $14.3bn, making it the top ranked destination for Chinese money for the second year in a row. The UK took fifth place with $2.2bn, behind Hong Kong, Malaysia and Australia.
