Verhofstadt: Brexit should be seen as ‘an opportunity’

BCO 2016: The European Union “will not survive” in its current state, the former prime minister of Belgium told delegates at the BCO Conference in Amsterdam.

Guy Verhofstadt said: “The EU is a joke. A loose confederation governed by 28 parties. Imagine if the United States was run in the same way.”

He added that Brexit should be seen as “an opportunity”  to shake up the organisation and force it to return to its original principles.
